It Appears FreeNow Wants To Be A Regulator With It’s Own Conditions Of Fitness. Plus Age Limit To Be Imposed, So Not So Free Now !!!

Minicab app FreeNow/Kapten are updating their general terms and conditions to reflect the service they are offering. The new T&Cs would be better suited to a regulator such as TfL or local council and not just an online app service provider !!!!

This should be a stark wake up call to all the London’s Taxi drivers still using this app.

It’ alleged FreeNow are trying to circumnavigate the new legislation that confirmed drivers on the Uber platform, are entitled to sick/holiday pay and other benefits associated with being an employee.

But worst than this, they are now introducing their own licensing conditions for drivers from both services, wishing to use the app.

Item one, reading through the T&Cs they demand that all drivers, PH and Hackney, be owner drivers…..

g)hold a V5C registration certificate (log book) for the vehicle used to provide the Transportation Services, as applicable.

h) hold a valid MOT for the vehicle used to provide the Transportation Services;

i) hold a valid and appropriate insurance policy for the vehicle used to provide the Transportation Services;

j) hold any and all other consents, licences, permits, approvals, authorities and insurance documents that we may reasonably require you to hold from time to time as a licensed third party transportation provider.

Another condition is that the vehicle you are using in the app PH or Hackney be less than 10 years old. ….

c) ensure that the vehicle used to provide the Transportation Services is not older 10 years old.

This appears to include both the TX4, Vito, Nissan NV200 and TXe as they haven’t added an exemption, for these vehicles. (Much as TfL hasn’t exempt Taxis from LTN restrictions)

Also, be aware…..

FreeNow reserve the right to disclose your identity to any third party.

They are also implementing a new go electric with FreeNow service.

We are pleased to announce our new product feature “Go Electric” for businesses who want to get greener and reduce their Co2 emissions. Go Electric ensures that your employees are taking the lowest emission vehicles when riding with FREE NOW for Business.

With our new Go Electric option, your employees will only be allowed to take business trips in electric black cabs or zero-emission capable PHV vehicles, making sure that you are running your business in a more sustainable way.

Late model TX4 and Vitos (Euro 6) drivers have been given a shock, as FreeNow state that from 2025, all the vehicles on the app will have to be not just ZEC. Meaning that 6 year old TX4s will be kicked off the app.

We have sustainability built into our DNA, and therefore, we’ve pledged to have 100% zero-emission capable vehicles on the app by 2025, ahead of the government's 2030 ban on new petrol and diesel vehicles.

TAXI LEAKS EXTRA BIT:

So Daimler, partly responsible for the Vito Taxi…. who along with BMW currently own Not So FreeNow, are now going to be expelling Vitos and late model TX4s from their app !!!!

Are they preparing the ground to sell out to Uber after being offered $1B last year

Any driver working or staying on this must have more sawdust in their head than the local wood yard! I've even seen a large amount of these morons, driving around with a full wrap on the cab, advertising these parasites. Unbelievable & what will be next - maybe, they'll cover their cabs in a full contact number for you know who. Talk about turkeys voting for Xmas, the lot doing this have voted for all their christmasses to come. I hope they enjoy twiddling their thumbs when these companies put every good job in a car & all the s*** is palmed off to them. Cretins!!!

Further to the earlier comment regarding drivers having sawdust instead of brain matter, I think this can also be applied in other situations that are possibly connected? For example (& something that definitely needs addressing), I had the misfortune to visit the toilets at GSS cafe yesterday and to open a cubicle door. This was instantly regrettable and I didn't know whether to feel disgusted or just plainly ashamed, to be associated (via the trade) to someone who would leave the toilet area in such a gut wrenching condition! This is not the first time I have been witness to this and I believe many others must have had the misfortune to open the door but to also, quickly beat a retreat, due to the state of the cubicle. Whatever possesses a taxi driver (& by the odds of probability I presume it is a taxi driver, allied to the fact that it is a common occurrence at a place 99% frequented by drivers) to use a clean toilet and then leave the toilet cubicle in such a state, that a defecating circus contortionist would have trouble replicating!!! I really feel sorry for the poor member of staff who has to clear up this mess and it is no wonder that hotels & other places have withdrawn access to toilets over the years, if this is what some drivers do. I think there is also a good argument here for someone who acts in this way (without any regard for work colleagues, etc) to have the same mindset as those who use the parasitic companies leeching off drivers. Both situations did not exist in this trade 40 years ago FACT but the mindset of experienced & new drivers, has it seems taken a decision to act selfishly, without any morals and any respect for others or themselves. So to those who have fouled the toilets in such a way & those who want to sell their soul & knowledge to the highest bidder; why don't you leave this great trade and do something more suited ..... such as working in the sewers or selling your grannies for a few quid!!!
