Is This The End Of The Equalities Act ?…Surely It Can’t End Here….Can It ???

Conservative Assembly member for Hammersmith and Fulham Tony Devenish, tweeted this morning….”The Mayor of London chose to spend Londoners' money on lawyers rather than LISTEN to disabled Londoners and small business people suffering under the Covid pandemic.

Appalling judgement call from Sadiq Khan.

There’s no need to go over the appeal of the unjustly verdict again… it’s already all over Twitter and Facebook, plus emails have been sent to drivers explain every aspect of the case.

It is indeed shameful, that it appears only the London Taxi Trade were willing to put their money where their mouth is and stand up for disabled people who’s right have been completely disregarded by the Mayor, TfL and the CoL corporation.

Unfortunately the trade has become fragmented, with driver groups turning upon each other, blaming each other in ever aspect of the day to day troubles we face.

We’ve seen many drivers stick with online apps who are doing everything in their power to kill off the trade.

Driver protests unsupported by the vast majority of the trade and being called Loonies by the general Secretary or our largest Org didn’t help.

Sadiq Khan, TfL and Local councils now feel confident that they can do what ever they like and will always beat any protest from the trade hands down.

Cycle lanes, Tottenham Court Road, Bank Junction, Bishopsgate, more or the City to be pedestrianised and now the new West End company unveil their plans to pedestrianise the middle of Oxford Street completely cut in London in half.

So who is to blame…..

Martin Niemöller (1892–1984) prominent Lutheran pastor in Germany knows exactly who’s to blame.

TAXI LEAKS EXTRA BIT: from Sean Paul Day…

In a political climate where even the slightest discriminatory remark can have grave consequences (and rightly so), we now have a mayor and a transport authority who sought to condone inequitable polices through the High Court; which are now being lauded by local councillors.

It cannot end here!

Also…heavy emphasis was placed on temporary measures and proportionality.

Once COVID restrictions are lifted, what provisions will LAs apply to ensure those with mobility conditions will not be discriminated against?
