Are TfL Using Taxpayers Money To Influence RBKC Residents Opinions on Kensington High Street Cycle Lane, Asks GLA Cllr Tony Devenish

London Assembly Member Tony Devenish, has written to the Mayors Cycling Czar Will Norman in the light of deeply concerning information sent to him by a constituent.

It is alleged that a company employed by TfL is trying to influence the opinions of residents on the cycle lanes that were removed from Kensington High Street, after they were found to be causing massive gridlock congestion which was adding to pollution.

It would be scandalous if TfL are spending taxpayers' money to try to influence opinion on an Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea matters.

In the letter Cllr Devenish says he hopes that  Will Norman is able to guarantee that this hasn't happened.

The answer to the letter from Will should make interesting reading.

TAXI LEAKS EXTRA BIT :

The letter address to Dr Will Norman says;

Dear will

A constituent was contacted by an interviewer from Walnut Unlimited, for a survey on High Street Kensington Cycle Lane. My constituent felt that the purpose of the survey was to blatantly push support for the scheme. Please confirm whether or not Walnut Unlimited is working on behalf of transport for London.

If Walnut Unlimited is working for transport for London, how do you justify using taxpayers money to seek to interfere in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea’s legitimate right to decide on this scheme?

Will you please supply me with the script that is usedBy Walnut Unlimited’s interviews, to allay fears this survey is aiming to push a specific view onto my local residents.

I have copied in the Mayor of London. I hope that you will both recognise that any TfL sponsored intervention would be deeply wrong and, if it has taken place, act swiftly to stop it happening again.

Yours sincerely

Tony Devenish
