An outpouring of support has been pledged to a famous tea hut which was smashed to pieces after a crash.
The Blackheath Tea Hut in Shooters Hill Road, on the A2  in Greenwich, was hit by a car at around 7pm yesterday (January 7).

According to police, three were taken to hospital but their injuries are not thought to be serious.

The hut - which is open 24 hours - has been standing in the same spot for 100 years.
Drivers keen to see the hut rebuild and restored to its former glory have since set up two fundraising pages which are generating cash.

Paul Kelleher, who created aJustGiving page , said: "Hopefully with the public's help we can help the family that run this iconic part of south east London and help them get back on their feet.

"We also want to restore the tea hut back to its original state.

One person, who pledged £20, said: "Let's get this done and return it to its former glory.
"Its fame won't ever be lost.
"I remember it being a lifesaver after a late night out when I was younger. Sending wishes to those caught up in it."
So far £200 has been raised of a £2,500 target.
A second GoFundMe page has also been created.

Dawnie Healey, page creator, said: "A much loved iconic piece of local Blackheath history has been pretty much destroyed this evening due to a car hitting the Tea Hut.
"A much loved member of staff along with a couple of others standing at the hut at the time, were injured but have been taken to hospital.

"The Tea Hut has been around for many many years, and a frequent meeting place for bikers, car enthusiasts and people stopping by for a cuppa tea and a legendary animal burger.

"I wanted to start this campaign to raise funds to help get the tea hut rebuilt asap along with funds to help the staff members for any loss of earnings too."
So far, £120 has been raised of a £1,200 target.
Following the incident the road was temporarily closed and bus diversions were put in place.

A spokeperson for the London Ambulance Service: "LAS was called at 7.03pm by a member of the public to reports that a car had collided with the tea hut on Shooters Hill Road, Blackheath.
"We sent a number of resources to the scene including three ambulances where we treated three people and then took them to hospital.
"Their injuries are not believed to be serious."
