Sadiq Khan the king of taxation, wants to take more civil rights and freedoms away from Londoners, as well as taking their hard earned money.
The Mayor plans to charge Londoners for ‘needless trips to shops, which could cost individuals as much as £519 extra a year.
Make no mistake, what Khan thinks are "needless trips to the shops" will be your big family shop, visiting the doctor, and getting to work.
It’s not about safety
It’s not about pollution
It’s about the money simple as that.
In an article in the Standard, we are told the Mayor has given his support to a call for London to introduce road-user charging, which would set a levy based on the distance and time of day travelled.
The idea has been proposed by Camden Council’s transport chief Adam Harrison, the one who has already caused gridlock in Fitzrovia and St Pancras and is currently overseeing the transformation of Tottenham Court Road and Gower Street into highly dangerous two-way streets that prioritise pedestrians and public transport. (Not a word in the article in the standard about the bus collisions with pedestrians)
Mr Harrison said he compares driving half a mile to the shops to having “that cheeky cigarette, you know you shouldn’t be having”.
He said: “The truth is that reclaiming London’s streets for public use over private domination will make London a better city.
TAXI LEAKS EXTRA BIT:
GLA Conservatives said on Twitter earlier today:
The Mayor's plan to charge you for ‘needless trips to shops’ could cost you as much as £519 extra a year.
Labour's plan will hammer working families living in Outer London.
