Points must have reason, and the runs connected between two points clearly demonstrate a knowledge students ability to travel in a direct and positive way, so the examiners deliberately 'pinging' points of stupidity to a nervous student serves no point at all and wastes an examination of 'Knowledge' which is precisely the point everyone is attending on the day.
I remember getting the 'odd' red herring point to put me in my place and served as a reminder to current day a passengers awkwardness and understand why a random shop in a random high street occasionally arises, but looking at some of the points being asked and even getting both the points the examiner excludes one or two important roads necessary to complete the run,....and again I understand the necessity to do this due to the roadwork madness we all have to circumnavigate, but looking at the points and excluded routes particularly given that specific candidates have been doing the knowledge for some time demonstrates to me a deliberate attempt to hinder progression particularly 'older' students who are subjected to a change in career but find the going 'complicatedly' difficult for no real reason.
The knowledge is not easy, it never was, but The Mr Millers, Mr Shoens, Mr Mayhews and others to many to name, would never have conducted the trivial point exercises currently being used which are preventing knowledge progression and dampening the enthusiasm of candidates who clearly share their blights with outsiders who might have been considering starting the world famous knowledge but are being put off by a created absurdity!
Maybe that is the official point to kill the interest off?

TAXI LEAKS EXTRA BIT :
I as shown a letter yesterday from the secretary of the Transport Secretary.
In it she refers to the trade as the Taxi, Private Hire and Uber trade.
So now Uber are being recognised as a separated service to Taxis and Private hire, we now have a three tiered system at government level.
But to be honest she's right. Uber are not in the Taxi category, and can't be confused with Private hire which have to be pre booked!....They are in their own Johndra as ply for instan hire, totally illegal under legislation but backed to the hilt by TfL and Government ministers.

Well it’s a shame you have only just realised this I know of Knolwedge students who have thrown the towel in because of obscure points from what I know it’s only 2 excaminers who have tried to make a name for them selfs yes it looks very certain now that the Knolwedge of London will be dissolved sooner rather than later very sad and I’m sorry TAXI PR where just trying to sell a dead donkey no on is interested not even the meeting at city hall achieved anything best of luck people
It’s reality that we all have to accept matters and by this I mean the reality that they don’t want us and see us as a hindrance in their lives. Basically, we are the last of the working class in London that they haven’t completely shafted yet. Also, they don’t like the fact that we are to an extent self governing & nobody can tell as and when we have a break or start/finish work. It all started backbin the 70’s/80’s. I am of the opinion that somebody high up, thought to themselves, that the ‘normal’ working people were getting a bit above themselves, earning a relatively good living and even having their own houses and moving out into nice suburban areas. Therefore, they thought we can’t have this and we need to get in a cheap labour force, to come in and drive the wages and conditions down. It took a while and they were a bit perplexed, as how to do it but then their saviour appeared via the EU. This then led to people coming over and driving wages and conditions down - aka zero hour contracts, etc. This meant that the indigenous population and the poor souls trying to improve the lives they experienced in their homelands, were all forced to scrap it out. Meanwhile those at the top saw - & still see - increased profits at the expense of those doing the actual hard work. I know I’ve drifted a bit from the subject ( knowledge) but bear with me. This then leads to those who are fed up of low wages and more importantly conditions, looking for a job that is better and where you can shape your own destiny - aka the knowledge. This then means we become the target to eradicate, so their plan can come to fruition and they can carry on. This allied to the unbelievable traffic and roadworks situation is ‘death by a thousand cuts’! A bit far fetched you may think but think about it, this mob in control now, don’t want motor traffic hindering their plans & the cycle lobby are getting more powerful by the day - it’d be interesting to see what positions many of them hold & how they exert such influence? In conclusion nobody will worry or be concerned when we go and it’ll be the same as the docks, print, etc. This associated to the trade apathy and those who purport to lead us is a recipe for disaster. There are many fantastic people in this trade, with intellect and the ability to deal with problems - unfortunately, none are at the helm of any trade organisation (although, one trade body does seem to do more than others but has no support). Unfortunately, I can’t see the trade carrying on in its present form longer than 10/15 years, what with the electric vehicles, road closures, etc. The people running the show are not interested in us and we are more highly respected, by outsiders and those from abroad, who know the difference between a bad taxi service and the exemplary one that London has (we on the other hand know the difference between a good authority and a bad one only too well). Apologies, for the essay and I really hope I am wrong as I feel for those coming into the trade. It is - whatever anyone may say - a great job. Maybe it’s not as good as it was but a great deal better than a lot of occupations on offer. It also gives you a great perspective on the world as you meet many interesting people and 99% of them are fantastic as are the drivers - like all trades we have a few idiots but minuscule compared to others. So my message to all those on or contemplating the knowledge is: carry on and show them what you’re made of, it’s always been hard but worth it & although, it may seem like I’m contradicting myself, I just wanted to point out that it’s NOT the knowledge, drivers or Londoners that need to change but those at the top in association to those representing us.
